  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 oz semi-sweet chocolate chopped
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • For swirl: 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree plus 1/2 cup for swirl
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/8 tsp cloves
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chopped pecans

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F; line 8x8 pan with parchment.
  • Melt butter, chocolate, and oil; whisk in sugars and vanilla.
  • Add eggs one at a time, then fold in flour, cocoa, and salt. Spread in pan.
  • Beat cream cheese, sugar, yolk, pumpkin, and spices; dollop over batter.
  • Swirl with knife; bake 25-28 minutes until edges set. Cool and slice.
