- All-purpose flour: 1 ½ cups 180g
- Granulated sugar: 1 cup 200g
- Baking soda: 1 tsp
- Salt: ½ tsp
- White vinegar: 1 tbsp
- Vegetable oil: ⅓ cup 80ml
- Pure vanilla extract: 1 tsp
- Water: 1 cup 240ml, room temperature

- Powdered sugar for dusting
- Vegan Chocolate Frosting: Vegan butter: ½ cup powdered sugar: 2 cups, cocoa powder: ¼ cup, vanilla extract: 1 tsp, plant-based milk: 1-2 tbsp
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C); grease and line a 9-inch pan.
Whisk flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
Make three wells; add vinegar, oil, and vanilla. Pour water over all and whisk until smooth.
Pour batter into pan; bake 30-35 minutes until toothpick is clean.
Cool in pan 10 minutes, transfer to rack to cool completely.
Dust with powdered sugar or frost with vegan chocolate frosting.
