Ingredients
  

Core Ingredients:

  • 200 g dark or semi-sweet chocolate at least 60% cocoa.
  • 250 g mascarpone cheese room temperature.
  • 300 ml heavy cream or whipping cream.
  • 50 g powdered sugar or adjust to taste.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract Enhances the chocolate flavor and adds warmth.

Optional Add-Ins (for variation):

  • 1 tsp instant espresso powder
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1 –2 tbsp liqueur like amaretto, Baileys, or Grand Marnier, if desired

For Garnishing:

  • Chocolate shavings or cocoa nibs
  • Whipped cream
  • Fresh berries or mint leaves
  • A dusting of cocoa powder

Instructions
 

  • Melt the Chocolate: Break the chocolate into pieces and melt it gently over a double boiler or in the microwave. Stir until smooth and let it cool slightly.
  • Whip the Cream: Whip cold heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form. Avoid over-whipping.
  • Mix Mascarpone and Chocolate: Beat the mascarpone until smooth, then blend in the cooled melted chocolate until silky.
  • Fold in the Cream: Lighten the chocolate mixture with a third of the whipped cream, then gently fold in the rest to maintain a fluffy texture.
  • Chill and Serve: Spoon into dessert cups and chill for at least 2 hours. The mousse firms up and flavors deepen with time.
